🌌Space Journey - Episode 3: Life Without Gravity
Hello! Welcome to my blog.
In Episode 2, we've explored how humans' space technology has developed to reach the vast universe. But along the way, what do astronauts usually do in space in a single day?🤔
From meals without gravity to workouts that keep them fit in our orbit, in episode 3, you'll see the daily routine of the astronauts in the microgravity environment. So, buckle up and let's dive in!👨🚀

🍽️Eating in space - Meals without gravity
Meals in space aren't served on plates like we are on Earth. Every single food is packed in sealed bags or cans to avoid crumbs or spills. The astronauts' drinks must be packed in pouches with straws, because even a drop of water can cause them trouble. Eating in space is when we can enjoy the food, but still keep everything under our control.
In fact, when you live in space for a long time, your muscles and bones get weaker than when you're on Earth (because space doesn't have gravity). That's why astronauts exercise for at least 30 minutes or an hour every day. They exercise by using specialized equipment like treadmills, cycling machines, and weight machines. These workouts help them stay strong and ready to return to Earth.
Astronauts aren't just space travelers; they're scientists representing their country. Their daily tasks include running experiments, maintaining equipment, following and checking the spacecraft, and even growing plants in space. The ISS is like a giant lab orbiting Earth, preparing us for future missions to other planets.
There are no beds in ISS. Instead, astronauts sleep inside sleeping bags attached so they don't float away in the microgravity environment. Since the ISS orbits Earth 16 times a day, astronauts see 16 sunrises and sunsets! To stay on schedule, they use artificial lights to control their body clock.
Do you miss family or your friends when you're alone? If you say "yes", then astronauts do, too! That's why astronauts sometimes make video calls, send emails, and share photos of Earth. Staying connected helps them stay positive, even though they're hundreds of kilometers from Earth.
